Who doesn’t love a tasty cocktail during reception hour?  After all, it’s the start to the celebration and a great way to set the tone for the rest of your wedding night.  I can tell you from personal experience, that a bad cocktail hour is a sure way to send your guests packing early, so you want to make sure that your selection is creative, fun, and you serve a good variety of beverages.

A few tips to set your wedding apart from the rest and have your guests blown away:

1.) Incorporate some sort of personal touch to the cocktail itself, maybe it’s the first cocktail you had with your hubs on your first date! Give your guests a story behind why you chose these specific drinks.

2.) Incorporate the wedding theme in some way, this could be anything from using your wedding colors to using props to set the tone.  For example, you could use candy cane pieces if you’re having a winter wedding!

3.) Try to come up with a cocktail that no one has ever heard of or tried before.  Also, include a fun name for the cocktail.  Many a times it’s the combination of the bride and groom’s name, or a first date location.  Something sentimental and special.

Check out accomplished mixologist Jonathan Pogash of Wedding Cocktail Design who has been helping couples design signature cocktails for the day of their wedding, and providing a personal experience that the bride and groom will never forget.  Who wouldn’t want a personal mixologist for the day of their wedding?  He’s been on numerous publications such as TIME and BRIDES Mag, and definitely knows what he’s doing!
