I remember the moment I got engaged like it was yesterday. The stoop we were sitting on, which also happened to be the same one we sat on for our first date, the words that were spoken to me and the moment I saw my engagement ring for the first time. I think I had been planning my wedding since I was seven, but the act of getting engaged and the moments that followed couldn’t have been dreamed of.
The best way to describe it is as an out of body experience and then you pinch yourself and realize that you’re one true love (cheesy as it sounds) has just asked you to spend the rest of your life with them and put a beautiful ring on your ring finger…so how do you share the news with everyone else?
1. SHOWCASE THE RING WHERE IT HAPPENED
After taking it all in and calling all your loved ones the next obvious step is sharing the engagement ring selfie with them. No time like the present and no need for fancy filters or props, the best background is the same one where the proposal took place. Not only does it prove to be a great backdrop, but looking back through your photos over the years, you’ll remember that photo, spot and moment forever.
2. WITH YOUR LOVE
This person is pretty much the reason for that sparkly little number on your finger so why not include him in on the fun? Whether he’s right alongside you or just in the distance while you’re admiring your ring, it’s a great photo to take to help make that memory stick, not that you’ll have any trouble remembering it!
3. GET CREATIVE
After the shock has subsided and you’ve taken it all in, now’s the time to get creative with your snap!
Moments after my own engagement I realized that my eyes were red and my face was blotchy, but I was engaged and couldn’t have been happier!! It might not showcase the ring, but trust me I have plenty of selfies of it on Instagram!
Regardless of how you choose to showcase that bling, everyone loves a good ring selfie so don’t forget to follow these ten steps! Whether you’re sharing with the world via social media or just your family and close friends – capturing the beauty really won’t be hard, but which option would you choose?!
