20 daring and wearable sheer wedding dresses

I can’t say I wore a particularly daring dress to my own wedding, but my grandmother was making my dress, so it was all I could do to keep her from adding sleeves and a turtleneck! But I love the sheer and faux-sheer trend in dresses lately. They allow for feminine, romantic details, without being too revealing. Well, in some cases they’re a little revealing!

Sheer wedding dresses can be a little tricky to pull off. There’s a fine line between a little daring and a little risque. A few tips to help keep you on the right side of that line. First, consider your own style. If you’re not the type to bare any skin in your regular wardrobe, baring all on your wedding day might be a shock, both for you and your guests. Second, make sure you’re comfortable in it. Remember you’re going to be moving and dancing and hugging guests, so you don’t want to be worrying about whether you’re too revealed!

Illusion necklines were reserved for ice dancers until a few years ago, and we’re so glad they’re making a come back. They allow for the beautiful and romantic look of sheer dresses without being too bare.

Let’s look at twenty of the most stunning and, in some cases, daring wedding dresses we’re loving at the moment.

Sheer Bodice

A sheer bodice can add instant elegance to a strapless dress, giving you a little more coverage, or it can create head down the road to downright sexy, impressing your man on your big day!

Sheer Back

Sheer backs on wedding gowns are simply so sexy. We love that the options range between ultra-sexy to more conservative. For more backless gowns, see our post right here!

Cutouts

Cutouts are another trend we can absolutely get behind. Little unexpected peeks of skin that add so much interest or texture to your gown.
