A Woodsy Pacific Northwest Wedding from Ryan Flynn Photography

We’re really excited to feature a gorgeous wedding from talented photographer Ryan Flynn. We stumbled across his photos on another wedding blog, and have been obsessing over his art ever since. Luckily, Ryan was kind enough to share some photos with us to share with all of you — which is great, because I’m sure you’ll adore his photography and this Washington state wedding as much as we do!

So how did Ryan feel about this woodsy wedding and the couple, Melissa and Matt? He says, “You can’t really go wrong when your wedding plans include gathering your favorite people on the shores of a beautiful lake on the Olympic Peninsula for the weekend, with plenty of sun, food, drinks, campfires, and stars to go around. I love weddings like this.

Melissa, Matt, and their guests spent the weekend at the Lake Crescent Lodge on the Olympic Peninsula.”

Delicate Italian wedding inspiration board [Guest post]

Posted on by Stephanie in Weddings | Leave a comment

Hello Wedding Party community. Allison here! I’m the founder of the wedding publication, Engaged & Inspired as well as a wedding planner/designer serving the San Francisco Bay Area. I’m excited to share inspiration a couple of times a month with all of you.

I thought I would start out by sharing an inspiration board and a few details for an Italian destination wedding I’m planning/designing this summer. The Italian landscape is a beautiful thing. When designing a wedding with such a beautiful backdrop, it is important to keep the details light and delicate to let the magic of the space shine though. And that is exactly what I plan to do.

Check out how I plan to pull it all together with a beautiful Italian scenery as our backdrop.  Find the whole collection on my Pinterest board!

Unconventional and affordable bouquets for the modern bride

Posted on by Stephanie in Weddings | Leave a comment

In a recent survey done by New York Magazine, brides who had been married over a year ago revealed their wedding regrets. When asked what they regretted spending too much money on, the majority wished they hadn’t spent so much on flowers. If you think about this, it makes sense — flowers don’t last like your wedding photographs, or hold the same sentimental value as your wedding dress. They’re there purely to decorate your wedding, and will lose their beauty in just a few days.

Luckily for brides planning their wedding, there’s been an uptick in interesting, unique, and affordable bridal flowers and bouquets  that won’t break the bank. And they still look gorgeous! If you’re looking to pinch pennies and save for your dream photographer or your tropical honeymoon, consider these great alternatives to an expensive and elaborate bouquet.

Single-bloom bouquets: They’re all the rage now — and for good reason! We love the simplicity and beauty behind these large flowers. They make a strong statement and add a modern touch for your walk down the aisle.

Daisies: You may not think of daisies as a luxe enough flower for your big day, but I think their charm comes in how understated yet pretty they are. And who didn’t pick daisies as a little girl for your loved ones?

Dried Flowers: Dried flowers are a great way to make use of fresh flowers long after they’re past their prime. If you had flowers at your engagement party or bridal shower, consider saving them for your walk down the aisle. And, it’s eco-friendly!

Wedding Watch: Our favorite engaged celeb couples of 2013

Posted on by Stephanie in Weddings | Leave a comment

Sure, there are big-name celebs like Jessica Simpson and Jen Aniston who are currently engaged, but we can’t say that we’re super excited (read: optimistic) about their upcoming nuptials. Nor are we too impressed with their gigantic hollywood-style iceberg rings. However, there are some celebs we’re super excited for — celebs with quirky personalities and impeccable style that we’d be eager to see walk down the aisle this year! Which of these engaged celeb couples is your fave?

Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis

He’s an SNL funnyman, and she’s a drop-dead gorgeous hollywood star with a long list of exes. They somehow met and fell madly in love! The best part? We recently read an article in which Olivia Wilde said she was intimidated by Jason Sudeikis at first, because she thought “he was too cool for her”.

Wedding Style Prediction: Super classy. Think black and white, with JT rocking his suit and singing at the reception.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Justin Mikita

They’re so adorable! Jesse Tyler Ferguson has gushed about fiance Justin Mikita to hollywood reporters — and we couldn’t be happier for the stylish and sweet couple.

Wedding Style Prediction: Urban hip — think a loft or urban rooftop garden ceremony.

Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard

What characters — she’s teeny, and he’s tall. He got her a sloth, and she cried because she was so happy. If that’s not love, we don’t know what is. Also, they just had a baby girl! D’awwww.

Wedding Style Prediction: Laid back and casual. We could see Kirsten in a breezy wedding dress, barefoot on the beach with a few close family and friends attending.

Alexis Bledel and Vincent Kartheiser

From the set of Mad Men to madly in love, the two got engaged this past winter. How could we not be proud of little Rory Gilmore? As long as this guy treats her better than Dean, Jess, and Logan, we’re good with it.

Wedding Style Prediction: Classic elegance with a vintage vibe. I mean come on, they co-starred on Mad Men.

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend

She’s a girly-girl model with a chic sense of style and an enviable bod. He’s a sexy crooner who’s capture the hearts of like, every woman on earth with his soulful singing. Together, they make a pretty classy pair, don’t you think?

Wedding Style Prediction: Feminine and pretty, based on Chrissy’s own personal style. We could see her in a dress with a classically feminine silhouette, and their wedding decor featuring tons and tons of flowers.
